If I get the popup "NVIDIA Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" does that guarantee the GPUGRID WU's in progress will error out so I should just abort them and move on?

Thanks,

Win

Replying to my own question, the answer is apparently NO: not guaranteed to error after display driver stops/restarts.

I had two wu's at 80% complete when a series of anvidia display driver stops/restarts occurred. After that ended I noticed the gpu load was half of where it should be and the two wu's were progressing very slowly.

So I rebooted the pc and everything looked back to normal - gpu load and wu performance were humming along. And a couple of hours later both wu's completed successfully.

I've had errors before after display driver hiccups but I wasn't sure if those errors were inevitable.

I have often had WUs fail after a driver crash. They may not always do so right away. I usually go ahead and abort any tasks in progress when this happens.

I also wonder if it impacts the reliability of the results returned to the project when this happens if they do manage to complete.

This fix is for Win7 and Vista users. Don't know if this works on Win8,8.1 or 10. Copy all the text below (including the Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 part)and paste it into notepad. Rename it fix.reg (or any name you want with the .reg extension.) Double click on it. Select yes when prompted. Restart your computer. This will not do any harm if it does not work.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Watchdog]
"DisableBugCheck"="1"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Watchdog\Display]
"EaRecovery"="0"

Another solution that I've seen but have not tried because the one above worked for me can be found here.
Scroll down to where it says "Fix it for me" or you can use the "Let me fix it myself" section.
