Where do I download a driver for a GTX 690 running on windows xp 32 bit?
I went to nvidia's website to search for it, and I get a no driver found message, but I know some of you are running GTX 690 on windows xp. So, where did you get the driver, and is there anything unusual about the set up?

So they only deleted the 690GTX vendorcode in there packages so it dont get recognize but the drivers are in there? I dont think i can get a x90 card in next time but its always good to know such things for future :)

For whatever reason, NVIDIA decided to not support SLI with the GTX 680s in XP and XP x64. I spent a day trying to figure out what was wrong with my OS configuration since the SLI option was missing only to find that NVIDIA decided to pull support. Being that the GTX 690 has two GK104 chips, perhaps NVIDIA removed the 690 vendor info in the inf file due to not wanting to support SLI.

I did it the other day, and it worked like a charm. It is amazing that adding 2 lines to one file, can make the difference. Doing the set up was really easy, but I did get 2 messages from windows, warning me that the card was not approved. I simply ignored them, and the set up completed without any issues. The computer has been running well, ever since.

Before NVidia decided to support laptop GPUs directly, I used the http://laptopvideo2go.com website to get fresh drivers for my GPUs (not just for my mobile GPUs). They have a v301.42 driver for the GTX 690 on WinXP, but I'm not sure if it's working. Probably you can find a 3rd party webpage with more recent drivers, but there is a danger of malicious software included in a driver, so I do not recommend to download a hacked driver from an unofficial website, because you can hack the official driver easily in no time.

1. Download the recent driver for GTX 590.
2. Start the installer, and copy the path of the installation files to the clipboard.
3. Close the installer.
4. Open the nv4_dispi.inf file with a text editor (like notepad) in the Display.Driver folder of the installation files. (you can do it by creating a shortcut on your desktop like: notepad "<the path of the installation files>\Display.Driver\nv4_dispi.inf", if you leave the installation path on it's default value, your shortcut would look like this: notepad "C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\314.22\WinXP\English\Display.Driver\nv4_dispi.inf"
5. Search for the string (press CTRL-f in notepad) dev.1088
6. The first hit would look like this:

%NVIDIA_DEV.1088% = Section022, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1088

7. Copy the whole line and paste it under the original, then change both 1088 to 1188 (leave the original line unchanged):

%NVIDIA_DEV.1188% = Section022, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1188

8. Search again (press CTRL-f in notepad) for the string dev.1088
9. It will find this:

NVIDIA_DEV.1088 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 590"

10. Copy the whole line and paste it under the original, then change the 1088 to 1188 and the 590 to 690 (leave the original line unchanged):

NVIDIA_DEV.1188 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 690"

11. Save the nv4_dispi.inf file (overwrite the original).
12. Start the installer.

Note for future use of this method, that NVidia may change the Section numbers in the inf file from time to time, so you have to use the correct section number from the original file in step 6 (not just simply copy this line from here to the inf file in step 7)

I went Nvidia's drivers webpages, using the manual driver search, and found out that there are no drivers available to support the GTX 970, GTX 980 or Titan X for Windows XP, only the GTX 960 is supported. Does this work around trick work for those cards for Windows XP or do we have to something else?

I think you need to ditch XP for 7 or 8...
