Hi all,

I have just sent a good bunch of WU (4000) to the long queue. Only two steps, 90000 credits each. With the analysis of this last batch, we will be able to finish a project on drug discovery for the thrombosis disease. Please let me know if you find any problem, although these simulations were already on the long queue some moths ago and should run fine.

Noelia

Thank you for that info. It´s always good to know what we are working on. It really keep us, the donors, motivated.

I agree, thanks for providing the info Noelia!

Also, with MJH's app fixes, my system is able to suspend/resume your tasks without problems. I'm looking forward to getting more of your tasks, which is not something I thought I'd ever be saying :)

Keep up the good work.

Did anybody received any workunit from this batch?
I don't. I've checked the top 10 hosts, and they didn't received any.
There is something going on with the scheduler, or the batch priorities.

I checked through all the tasks I've run since the 11th of this month, but I have not run any of Noelia's FXArep WU's. I'm just running Long WU's but I don't think they would have been in the short queue (no complaints).

The Long queue has about 5,700 WU's in it, so perhaps the FAXrep work has just not surfaced yet?

I am still hoping for a Noelia WU, especially on the 660 but all I get are Santi's and occasionally a Nathan.
Reading Noelia's first post, there should be 4000 of them, thus 1700 are others.
Doing change calculations, we should get Noelia's more.

Some NOELIA WUs should start to trickle in now. There was an issue with the priority of certain tasks in the scheduler. Fixed now.

It is wonderful to hear that you/we have found a drug for thrombosis disease. Can somebody please explain to me what is meant by these 4000 tasks only having 2 steps?

@Speedy
Well, simulating drugs for a disease doesn't mean we have found a good one or cured it yet :)
The number of steps is usually related to the length of the single simulations. With grids like GPUGRID we can run multiple (4000 here) simulations in parallel but the problem is that we cannot run them for too long because people need to use their machines (and the chance that they may crash increases with time).
So if we want to run them for a bit longer we split them into steps. Thus one guy does the first piece of a simulation and another guy finished it.
The more pieces the longer the simulation but also the longer it takes for us to get back our results as the steps need to run sequentially.
Technically for our users I think it's of little significance how many steps the simulations consist of.

I had some potxnnn-NOELIA_INS1P, but these are from a different batch.

Same here Zoltan, only 3 Noelia WU's in the last week, all 3 potx. They run fine by the way, with 94-96% GPU use so very efficient use of graphics board.

We have tried to fix it but we need to do some more investigation on how the scheduler works. They will eventually be sent out, it's just that they were set on low priority to begin with.

Running one now on a 770.

The previous SDOERR_AdaptVillinWW9 task used less memory (165MB), GPU usage was ~80% and power was 65%
The FXArep WU uses 481MB (good news for some), has GPU usage of 92% and it's power requirements are at 77% (noteworthy for those on an OC).

I have just had a couple die on my 580.

This one crashed completely - http://www.gpugrid.net/workunit.php?wuid=4854487
This one crashed, too, but there is no indication to the server that it died - http://www.gpugrid.net/workunit.php?wuid=4854479

Are these, perhaps, to problematic to be in the field?

Noleias run on 1GB GPUs but not on 768MB cards. The Santi and Nathan WUs run great with 768MB. Unfortunately I can't get any for the GPU that needs them.

I've crunched successfully a couple of them on my GTX 680s and GTX 670s, and I'm crunching one on my GTX 480 for 10 hours (less than 2 hours left).

Interesting, your CPU time is about 1/4th of the run time, mine are almost the same (run time a few seconds more than CPU time).

The Fermi based cards (GTX4xx and GTX5xx) have the CPU time much lower than the Kepler based cards.

That's because Kepler cards take up a CPU core by design like using swan_sync=0 for earlier cards to achieve the same thing.

The significance of the 2 steps is that when we crunch this batch of workunits, they will wear out from the queue rapidly, because every workunit produce only another one.
