Basically, I got access to a Quadro GPU (can't remember the exact model right now..), and I intend to use it for Boinc.
While I know that any project that supports CUDA can make use of it, what I want to know is if GPUGrid takes advantage of the fact that it is a quadro (and it's extra features), for increased performance over a Gtx card with similar specs.
If not, do you guys know any project that make better use of such GPUs? |

Yes, a Quadro's a GPU like any other. Provided it's not too old, it'll run GPUGRID's application just fine.

Yes, I know it'll run the applications.
But for instance, some professional programs have massive performance boosts when using Quadro cards, when compared with a Gtx card that has around the same specs. So the question: is GPUGrid one of those programs? And if not, do you know any Boinc project that is? |

The quadro's have special drivers that can do very neat things. They are used for medical imaging like all types of body scanners.
They are also very good with autocad in combination with a powerful PC.
For as far my experience goes they do not outperform in BOINC projects, as these prgrams are not working on the high graphics capabilities but for "simple" calculations. I have some very expensive quadro's, bought second hands in an used PC from a body scanner.
I used them with some project but newer consumer GPU's did WU's faster.
Now they are to old for almost all project, so I have taken them out of the PC and are now museum parts.
So bottom line not better, and even slow when to old. Oh and they like energy.

Yes, QUADRO is neat...I use QUADRO 2000 on a work computer...been doing computation on it!
It's a 3x faster than my GT730 from home in SETi@home...and it doesn't use so much power, which is also neat! :D

My Quadro:

runs perfectly well on a laptop with GPUGrid, though I need to run it as "Short Task" only since its power is not the best.
