How do I go about figuring out the problem behind the compute error message I'm getting? For what it's worth, SETI@Home is able to utilise the GPU.

How do I go about figuring out the problem behind the compute error message I'm getting? For what it's worth, SETI@Home is able to utilise the GPU. This project does NOT support the 1080 at the moment. They are waiting for CUDA 8.5. All attempts to use this card for GPUGrid will fail.

The waiting is on NVIDIA to release CUDA 8 for public Gold release to support these cards. GPUGRID cannot do anything until that day. GPUGRID is Beta testing for Linux for this, but are not allowed to release the application on NVIDIA Beta, Alpha, or RC candidates.

Thanks for the update. Why not use/test the CUDA8 RC? At work, we've been using it a lot with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on our quasi-production systems for several weeks (months?) now without issue (except for gcc 5.4 which broke CUDA 8 RC, but Nvidia promptly fixed it with a patch).

There are some licensing and legal issues that prevent GPUGrid from release the application on NVIDIA Beta, Alpha, or RC candidates. The application is already working in their testing environment but will not be released until CUDA 8 Gold.
