maybe later i'll post the event log but recently GPUGRID just hard locks my whole system. one thing i did change for POEM was downgrading my drivers for my 980 ti from 372.70 to 362. did that make GPUGRID unhappy?

specs:
i7 5775c core: 4.3ghz 1.375v uncore: 3.9ghz 1.350v input voltage 1.95
32gb ddr-1400
gigabyte 980 ti xtreme gaming 1520/2000
windows 10 1511(no i don't have redstone update)

It looks to me that everything is so overclocked that I am surprised that it runs at all.

The GPUGrid work units are much more demanding than POEM, or any other that I know of. And they are not all equal; some are more demanding than others. It just depends on the series.

v362 works but v359.06 is noticeably faster here. There's going to be a new app soon. Not sure what that will require.

The new app will obviously need the latest driver for the latest cards.
I think the older app will be sill in operation for the older cards and hosts after the release of the new app.
The old app will become obsolete only if the CUDA 8.5 app will be faster on older cards too, in this case it will be worth to update the driver for older cards.
We'll see.

I think Pascal has the same basic architecture as Maxwell, so with a little luck, the CUDA 8.5 app will show improvement there too. That would be a nice bonus.

Provided that improvement will exceed the difference between non-WDDM and WDDM Windows.
As there won't be new drivers for Windows XP any more, if the efficiency improvement of older cards is worth it I will convert all of my hosts to Linux.
