I'm thinking about buying this 690 for $150, and was wondering if the Kepler Architecture is still supported in this project

I'm thinking about buying this 690 for $150, and was wondering if the Kepler Architecture is still supported in this projectThe Kepler architecture is still supported, but I wouldn't buy anything earlier than a Maxwell. However, since the state of the art Pascal architecture is supported, even the Maxwell cards became obsolete. The 'Pascal's are so much more energy efficient then the 'Maxwell's, that the savings on electricity costs makes it worth to buy Pascal.

Well my problem is, I use these cards to heat my house during the winter and I cannot afford 700 dollar gpus that use less power than a $150 300+ watt beast so it makes sense in my application. If I were given these gpus for free I would obviously run only pascal and a lot of them too. How much longer do you think the Kepler architecture will be supported? A couple of years at least? Also how do you afford your monstrous array of gpus?

5600 GFLOPS for 150€ sounds like a bargain, however keep in mind that the GTX690 is already old, out of warranty and could possibly stop working in a year from now. Then you have yet another investment to make.

... I use these cards to heat my house during the winterMe too. and I cannot afford 700 dollar gpus that use less powerMe too. But these cards make sense in the summer :) ... than a $150 300+ watt beast so it makes sense in my application. This is the other reason for me too to still have my Maxwells. If I were given these gpus for free I would obviously run only pascal and a lot of them too.I'd love to sign for free state of the art GPUs too. How much longer do you think the Kepler architecture will be supported? A couple of years at least?Yes. I think they will be dropped when the next generation (Volta) will become available. Also how do you afford your monstrous array of gpus?Let's just say that of the seven deadly sins is greed's acquiescence in our modern society which freaks me out the most. But pride is certainly the runner up.

Also Retvari, How are you able to get 1 million credits out of each 980ti? I can only manage 500k on windows 10. Is it entirely down to operating system?

Retvari, How many gpus do you have?I have 9 in operation, 8 at home and 1 at work. But from your next question I think you've already know that. Also Retvari, How are you able to get 1 million credits out of each 980ti? I can only manage 500k on windows 10. Is it entirely down to operating system?1. Non-WDDM operating system (Windows XP or Linux) 2. SWAN_SYNC=1 3. No CPU tasks (or only 1 at most) 4. Some overclocking 5. PCIe3.0x16, single GPU systems (except for one, but it has 2xPCIe3.0x16)
