I found only two users with GTX 1050 (searched top 1000 hosts), here are links: Yeah, I thought they would be rather slower after posting this thread. I guess I'll wait a bit longer. Thanks for the info as well. ____________ Cruncher/Learner in progress.

The 1050 is very much an entry level card. It would miss the 24h deadline for the 50% credit bonus for most long tasks, so credits would be hit. It's not a great time to be purchasing crunching equipment. In a month or three that will likely change...

It's not a great time to be purchasing crunching equipment. In a month or three that will likely change... I am not sure about that. From the recent presentation at the CES we know that AMD will attack the high-end 1080/1080ti/Titan with their new Vega 10 chip soon. However the smaller Vega 11 (still unconfirmed) seems to compete against the 1070 and will follow later, if at all. So I dont expect any major price change in the middle class. So in case you want to work with long runs I would go for the gtx 1060 3G at the Moment, it is available from $200 now and only $50 dearer than the 1050ti. 3G is a very limited memory size but suitable for crunching even so. But if you plan to keep the 1060 for a longer time and play games now and then, you may want to consider the more future proof 6G variant. ____________ I would love to see HCF1 protein folding and interaction simulations to help my little boy... someday.
