Even tea ... why do you think we became so objectionable ...

I mean, why do you think we aren't objective ...

Wait a moment...

Why we objected ... thats it ... why we objected ... even back then we knew that we would have to pay too much for video cards ...

Besides, it is so hard to fake the accent all the time ... and to misspell words by adding even more unneeded letters ...

You need to start a revolution ... no representation without taxation ...

We are interested to know how much is the real power consumption and working temperature with the 295GTX. We would like to set up 4 on the same machine.
Can anybody provide this info if they bought one?

Some experiences: when I started crunching with the stock adjustments the temperatures soon went beyond 80°C, accompanied by computation errors, so I had to stop the test. Unfortunately nvclock won't work yet, so I modified the GPUs BIOS to adjust the fan settings. Now they are configured to run at 100% and the temperature is around 53°C - 55°C with inner case ambient temps of 38°C to 40°C (both measured by the GPUs sensors). I think this should be a healthy temperature for 24/7 use, especially when compared to a 9800 GX2 which showed about 5°C more in the same case.

Have you tried EVGA Precision yet to see if it works with the 295 Card ??? I use it on my 260-280 Cards & it works fine.

UL1, are you able to run 2 Wu's @ a time with your 295 Card ??? Prying Minds want to know as the Rumors are spreading you'll be able to run 8-9 Wu's a day with it.

Being that it's a SLI Card nobodys said yet if you can run 2 at once ... ???

It's the same as with an 9800 GX2: you can run 2 WUs at the same time...

Hi UL1 - what are you thoughts with the card now it is up and running - are you getting the performance you expected - does it get through as much as a pair of 260s !

Made a quick comparison: Burdett's 260s are clocked at 1475000/1497000KHz and need about 25.000+/- s for an 3232-WU, Time per step is ~29ms. The 295ers are running at stock (-> 1242000KHz) and need about the same time...
When overclocked the times will get better... ;)
Ratm I'm very pleased with these cards: they're running cool and are very fast; I'd buy them again...

.... Hmmm - may get one then, before PoorBoy buys them all!!!!!

.... and that's running 2 WUs concurrently?

EDIT:
as a matter of fact a 295 seems to be two 280 rather than two 260-216

I´m interested in power consumption also, my 9800GX2-computer draws 260 watts when crunching two WUs and 75% CPU on other BOINC-projects, taskman shows ~90% load (Q6700@stock/1,2V, P43, 1x HDD, no DVD-ROM, 550watt PSU, 18146). No statistics yet on this computer, I changed different GTX 260-cards from board to board, dont be confused.

Yes, it's got the full 240 shaders per chip as the GTX 280, but has the clocks and memory interface of the GTX 260 (surely to keep power consumption and PCB length and cost in check).

Regarding power consumption: when switching GPUGrid from standby to full throttle the display showed only 100 Watts more...

With vista you have to extend the desktop (or so I have read) ... try that ...

I personally didn't have to extend the desktop to get it to work.

As to how that's an interesting question. I did a totally new install of Vista 32 installed 181.22 from my eVGA driver CD, not the downloaded ones, and it worked straight away.

Also remember the protected check-box on the install of BOINC (using 6.4.5).

Unlike the hours I spent on the 64-bit version to no avail.
