Is there a list of fixes for BOINC 6.6.0? What's new?

Is there a list of fixes for BOINC 6.6.0? What's new? Well, as is normal with C programmers, there is incredibly little information that makes sense to one not in the priesthood ... The important point is that none of the changes needed to make GPU Grid run better are in 6.6.0 ... as best as I can tell there is only one fix for leaks that someone else mentioned ... and possibly some fixes that were in the 6.4.x branch that did not make it into the 6.5.0 version ... If they make it into a stable release I may upgrade some to it, or the subsequent versions ... but, with 6.5.0 working well enough for me for the moment I feel no pressure ... YMMV ... {edit add} Still mousing about and ran into this marveolous comment that illustrates, at least to me, all that is wrong with BOINC Development, read for yourself:
What this quote tells me is the there is not a cohesive change management policy ... you know, all that extraneous and boring management stuff that C coders hate because it stands in the way of progress ... Anyway, the following tickets *MAY* have been fixed: 306 765 Though notes say fixed in 6.3.22 804 Though notes say fixed in 6.4.5 I guess the bottom line is that no one knows what might actually be in this version ... Unless a developer drops in that has some intimate knowledge, it looks to me more like a minor version build with no improved functionality. YOu can look for yourself in Trak with my sorting applied should you be interested ... FOr GPU problems the version to watch for would be 6.7 where the improvements that Dr. Anderson is working on should make their appearance ... though for full working there will also have to be server upgrade also ... in other words, just running the new 6.7 may not change your situation till GPU Grid updates the scheduler too ... Again, YMMV ____________

...but, with 6.5.0 working well enough for me for the moment I feel no pressure... I have been running 6.5.0 for a while as well and it is running fine for me too.. So, I'll stick with what I got for now (or at least let others be the trailblazers).

Is there a list of fixes for BOINC 6.6.0? What's new? Mac client: update build scripts, XCode project for curl-7.19.2 and c-ares 1.6.0. (Checked into boinc_core_release_6_5_0 tag.) Mac: Fix compiler warning. client: error checking for on/connected/active_frac values from XML XML_PARSER: in parse_int(), set errno to zero before calling strtol(). WINSETUP: Use the installer from 6.4 going forward. Shows CUDA warning on Vista. client, Win: don't leak thread handlers; fixes #808 client: don't accept 0 for active/on/connected frac; set to 1 client: work fetch: skip project if zero CPU shortfall and currently have coproc jobs. client: preserve ownership when copying files to slot directory. Fixes a problem with Enigma@home which uses the <copy_file/> tag.

Any reason for the big jumps in version numbers, even though not that much seems to change?

Any reason for the big jumps in version numbers, even though not that much seems to change? Sure, it makes you think something real has been changed... And X-Files, thanks for the list ... And it is interesting that with the supposedly improved security with ownership that we are so many versions down the road before they caught that issue ... ____________

Is there a list of fixes for BOINC 6.6.0? What's new? Apparently the ownership fix didn't work so they have now put out 6.6.1 (for the Mac only). Details below. I don't see any reason to upgrade from 6.5.0 yet, except maybe the thread handlers fix. Changes since 6.6.0:

Just for those of you interested, this was posted in the BOINC_dev mailing list by Rom (one of the BOINC developers)... While we were near the end of the 6.6 milestone and approaching release,

Just for those of you interested, this was posted in the BOINC_dev mailing list by Rom (one of the BOINC developers)... Well, if you are not already running a version of 6 ... be advised that there may be issues when moving from 5.4.45 ... Granted this is on a Mac Pro, but I tried the 6.6.1 release and RCN would not let me report work because of a change in the computer identification string ... and when I had this problem before I know I had it with CPDN and Sztaki too ... so ... I know we don't use Macs here (yet) ... but ... I don't know what issues may trip us up with the new version on Windows and Linux ... I have not noticed any issues with 6.5.0 on the projects that I have attached to the XP machines, but then again, I did not look that hard either ... they are doing the work I want, but I am concentrating on just a couple projects ... Just a cautionary note ... ____________

Is anyone running this version in WCG? Tried 6.4.5 and it wasn't able to calculate two HPF wu's + GPUGRID at a same time. Changed to 6.2.31, let's see if this works.

Is anyone running this version in WCG? Tried 6.4.5 and it wasn't able to calculate two HPF wu's + GPUGRID at a same time. Changed to 6.2.31, let's see if this works. NO not yet. 6.5.0 has been working well for me ... I did try 6.6.1 on OS-X and it made it so I cannot get work from RCN so I had to go back to 5.10.45 ... as far as GPU Grid as far as I know none of the CPU Scheduler changes are actually in the build yet ... ____________
